Reengineer Business Processes

One of Avèro's core competencies is Business Process Reengineering. Business Process Reengineering is the act of analyzing a core business process and rebuilding it to reduce duplicated and paper-based efforts and improve process overall process efficiency and quality. Avèro's consultants have performed numerous Business Process Reengineering scopes of work, but most recently, we have provided our expertise to the City of Maryville, TN, and the City of Charlottesville, VA. Maryville's Business Process Reengineering project included numerous departments throughout the City, including Finance, HR, Procurement, Public Works, Development Services, and Utilities.

Avèro met with each group to map current state business processes with IBM Blueworks Live, an intuitive mapping tool that enables users to capture and manipulate real-time processes. Avèro and the City met three times to discuss processes. The first meeting was to map the current state. During this meeting, all process components were mapping, all work done outside of the system was cataloged (for example, keeping an external spreadsheet), and each time paper changed hands was notated. Avèro then studied the current state processes and began re-engineering them based on industry best practices and institutional knowledge built upon years of process redesign experience and software capabilities. Avèro reviewed the re-engineered processes with key City stakeholders to ensure the City's processes aligned with its vision. During this review process, the project teams collaborated and made additions and/or subtractions where the City necessary. After this, Avèro refined the maps, ensuring all the proper notation was made, and facilitated one final meeting with City staff to validate the future state business process maps.
