Careers

The team briefing your CAO is the team doing the analysis.

Most advisory firms sell senior people and staff the work with juniors. We don't run that model. It changes what the job is, who we can hire, and what we can charge for. If you have spent a career becoming genuinely good at public-sector technology work, this is a place where that is the product rather than the pitch.

What the work is

Advisory, not implementation.

We represent the agency through selection and oversight. We do not configure the software or build the integrations. That boundary defines the craft.

You will own the room.

Senior-weighted by design. You are running the workshop, writing the analysis, and presenting to elected officials and city managers. There is no layer above you that repackages your work before it reaches the client.

No pyramid

Government only.

Counties, cities, transit, airports, housing authorities, schools, utilities. No commercial work splitting your attention. You get to build genuine depth in how the public sector buys and operates rather than starting over each engagement.

Sector depth

Your work gets read.

Deliverables land in council packets and public records requests. That raises the bar. Every recommendation has to trace to a source and hold up in front of people who were never in the room.

FOIA-survivable

Nobody is selling anything.

No referral fees, reseller margins, or partner commissions. You will never be asked to steer a client toward a vendor, and you will never have to defend a recommendation you don't believe.

Structural independence

The goal is to leave.

Every engagement should leave the agency more capable than it found it. Success is a client who no longer needs us, which means the work is teaching as much as it is analysis.

Capability, not dependency

You can say the hard thing.

Telling a client their program is not on a viable path is part of the job, not a career risk. The firm would rather lose an engagement than soften a finding, and you will be backed when you deliver bad news early.

Disciplines

Where people fit.

Openings vary. These are the areas we recruit into, and the credentials that tend to show up on the team: PMP, Prosci, Six Sigma, and a lot of years inside government.

Delivery
Project & program management
ERP, HRIS, public safety, and infrastructure programs. Running the schedule, the decision log, and the evidence trail an agency can defend.
Advisory
Consulting & business analysis
Assessments, requirements, selection, and IT strategic planning. Turning what staff actually do into something a vendor can be held to.
Client success
Relationship & oversight
Carrying an agency relationship across the length of a program and holding integrators to what they committed to during selection.
Subject-matter depth
Practitioners from government
People who ran the buyer's side before joining us: finance directors, CIOs, police commanders, housing and transit operators.
Product & engineering
Global Innovations Center
Hyderabad. The engineering behind Caliber and the research tooling that supports an engagement.
Locations
Knoxville · Portland · Hyderabad
Knoxville is headquarters. Client work travels, so where you sit matters less than whether you can be in the room when it counts.
Open roles

Everything we're hiring for.

Current openings live on our job board. That is the authoritative list, so it will always be more current than anything written on this page.

No requisition required

We are always looking for good people.

Send a resume whether or not something is posted. Senior practitioners are hard to find, so we hire them when we meet them rather than waiting for a role to open.

An empty job board does not mean an empty pipeline. If you have run public-sector technology programs and want to do that work without a pyramid above you, write to us. Tell us what you have run, what you want to run next, and attach your resume. A senior person reads every one of these, and you will hear back.

Working here

Small enough that your work is visible.

Six-time Inc. 5000, and none of that growth came from adding layers. It came from work agencies reference to other agencies. That only holds if the people doing it are senior, which is why hiring is the most consequential thing the firm does.
